Raising kids in today’s digital world can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be. Join us to learn how caregivers can mentor children as they grow up with platforms like Roblox, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Discord. We’ll discuss how to guide kids in managing their digital footprint and reputation, including what we share about them online. You’ll leave with strategies for helping tweens and teens recognize how social media affects their mood and when to take healthy breaks. We’ll also cover how to assess readiness for big tech milestones like getting a smartphone, how to build good sleep habits alongside screen time, and whether or not to track kids online. Bring your questions — this session is all about giving you practical tools for raising thoughtful, resilient kids in the digital age.

About Dr. Heitner

Dr. Devorah Heitner is the author of Growing Up in Public: Coming of Age in a Digital World and Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive (and Survive) in Their Digital World. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and CNN Opinion. She has a Ph.D. in Media/Technology & Society from Northwestern University and has taught at DePaul and Northwestern.
