This continuing education course is designed to equip psychologists with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective treatment to fathers. The course will explore the unique challenges faced by fathers during the transition to parenthood and present evidence-based strategies for supporting their mental health and well-being. Participants will gain valuable insights and practical tools to enhance their therapeutic approaches when working with fathers.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the psychological and emotional challenges experienced by new dads.
2. Identify risk factors and protective factors impacting new dads' mental health.
3. Apply evidence-based treatment approaches to address the specific needs of new dads.
4. Develop effective therapeutic strategies to promote father-infant bonding and co-parenting.
Dr. Jon Rosen is a New York State licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. He works with children, adolescents and adults to overcome challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, phobias, life transitions and other related issues. Dr. Rosen served as President of the School Division of the New York State Psychological Association. He is an adjunct clinical supervisor at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. Rosen earned his Master of Science in school psychology from St. John’s University and his Doctor of Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
